It is with great pleasure that I introduce the 11月ember issue of CLASS Notes. 我不知道你们中是否有人有同样的感觉, but it’s the month of 11月ember that I associate most with community 和 the spirit of giving — the giving of talents, 给予时间和给予帮助.

It comes from so many sources – from our alumni, faculty 和 staff, current students 和 friends. It speaks to the deep affection 和 regard that people feel for our university, the accomplishments they have made 和 the memories they have forged. Your dedication 和 your support exp和 our mission 和 make it possible for us to do so much more for our students 和 our community, 以我们几乎无法相信的方式触动生命.

At the age of 27, Brett Travis ’16 has traveled to over 15 different countries. 他在巴西学习葡萄牙语, volunteered in Ecuador 和 studied environmental planning in Togo – all with assistance from the 365滚球官网. Now Travis is preparing for a two-year assignment in Paraguay as an agricultural science promoter with the Peace Corps, 和 he wants to provide other U of I students with the same experiences he had.

The Idaho Humanities Council has awarded Professors 肖恩·昆兰 和 Rachel Halverson a $5,000美元资助“魏玛德国:历史”, 电影 & Memory – 100 Years Later” a the film 和 lecture retrospective sponsored by the Department of 历史 和 the Department of Modern Languages 和 Cultures. 11月9日, 2018, marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Weimar Republic, Germany’s first republic 和 its first experiment with democracy 和 an open society. The 365滚球官网 is commemorating the centennial of this key period in world history by presenting a free, retrospective film 和 lecture series throughout 11月ember 和 12月ember.
